PSD's Grindeanu: I see no reason to get President Nicusor Dan suspended

Social Democratic Party (PSD) national leader Sorin Grindeanu on Monday said that he does not identify at this moment any constitutional reasons for the suspension of President Nicusor Dan and no majority to support such an action.
"I told you on behalf of PSD that I see no reason for this to happen today. More than that I cannot say and I do not see that there is a majority. (...) Today, as we speak, I see no reason to suspend the President. There is no such thing other than the desire of some to be presidents, of Mr Bolojan and others...", Grindeanu told Romania TV private broadcaster.
Asked further who he is referring to, the PSD leader indicated George Simion, Calin Georgescu and Ilie Bolojan.
"I voted only once for Nicusor Dan, in the runoff last year. Otherwise, we were political opponents. We have never been in the same camp; we are not now. (...) I cannot see constitutional reasons that stand up and there is such a political action," the PSD leader also said.
The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) decided on July 1 to start the process of suspending Nicusor Dan and starting procedures for early elections.
The decision was taken by the National Governing Council (CNC) of AUR during an extraordinary meeting organised in Alexandria, Teleorman.
The 135 members of the CNC AUR in attendance unanimously voted to start the procedure for suspending Dan and starting a dialogue with the other political forces in that regard.
Among the reasons behind this approach, AUR says, is "the exclusion of an important part of Romanians from making decisions regarding the future of Romania, but also the refusal to nominate a second proposal for prime minister, as it is constitutional."
