President Dan in Paris for France's National Day; to also attend Coalition of the Willing meeting

President Nicusor Dan will travel to Paris on Monday and Tuesday to attend the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine and the ceremonies marking France's National Day (Bastille Day).

The visit comes at the invitation extended by French President Emmanuel Macron, the Presidential Administration informed.

According to a release sent to AGERPRES, the Romanian President's participation in the Paris ceremonies confirms the strength of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and France, as well as the privileged relationship between the two countries and their peoples. The year 2026 also marks the centenary of the Franco-Romanian Treaty of Friendship, a symbol of solidarity and shared commitment to European security.

The theme of this year's military parade on the Champs-Elysees is "Strategic awakening of Europe."

Romania will be represented by 22 servicemen from the "Michael the Brave" 30th Guards Brigade, the Military Colours guard and a platoon.

The agenda of the visit also includes President Nicusor Dan's participation in the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine, a format launched in 2025 and coordinated by France and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, bringing together 35 countries committed to supporting Ukraine through robust security guarantees.

The coalition aims to help maintain peace and prevent renewed aggression against Ukraine once an agreement has been reached between the parties involved in the conflict.

In his speech, President Nicusor Dan will highlight the direct link between Ukraine's security and Europe's security, with an emphasis on NATO's Eastern Flank and the European Union's Eastern Flank, the Presidential Administration mentioned.

The head of state will reaffirm that the support for Ukraine across all relevant areas remains essential to the stability and security of the entire region.

Furthermore, the Romanian President will also underscore the need for Ukraine to negotiate an end to the war from a position of strength, so that the resulting peace is lasting and just. In this context, the Coalition of the Willing is expected to play an essential role in implementing comprehensive security guarantees aimed at strengthening security in the wider Black Sea region, NATO's Eastern Flank and the wider Euro-Atlantic area, the release added..
