MApN: 33 cases of Russian drones entering national airspace since start of Ukraine war

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, 33 cases of Russian drones entering national airspace have been reported, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) informed.
The Ministry issued an update on Sunday regarding the incidents recorded at Romania's border in the context of drone attacks on Ukraine since the start of the war, with details provided for 2026.
"Since the start of the war, more than 100 attacks have been recorded on Ukrainian territory near the border with Romania. In 33 cases, Russian drones entering national airspace have been reported (the latest on 26 July 2026). In around 50 cases, drone fragments/drones were identified on Romanian territory," the release mentioned.
Regarding the situation this year, the MApN mentioned that more than 40 attacks on Ukrainian territory near the border with Romania had been recorded, while in 34 cases aircraft from the Enhanced Air Policing Service had been deployed.
Up to and including 26 July 2026, unauthorised drone incursions into national airspace were recorded in 18 cases.
"In three cases, the drones that had unlawfully entered national airspace were shot down by Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft (the latest on 26 July 2026). In 16 cases, drone fragments/drones were identified on Romanian territory," the MApN release added.
