Interim ForMin Toiu: Russian Federation ambassador summoned to MAE over repeated violations of Romanian airspace

Interim Foreign Affairs Minister Oana Toiu announced that Russia's Ambassador to Bucharest has been summoned to the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), following the Russian Federation's repeated violations of Romania's airspace.
The Interim Foreign Minister's standpoint came after a new drone was shot down on Sunday morning at 10:13 by a Romanian Air Force F-16 fighter jet over Romania's territorial waters in the Sulina-Chilia area.
"Investigations into the drones shot down yesterday and today are ongoing. Romania's diplomatic protest against the Russian Federation will be based on these investigations. It is inadmissible and intolerable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania's airspace, which is, at the same time, NATO airspace and European Union airspace. Such actions are unacceptable, and we treat them with the utmost seriousness, alongside our allies. Following these repeated violations, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania," Minister Toiu wrote in a post on X on Sunday.
She congratulated the Romanian pilots and ground teams for the professionalism, courage and efficiency with which they carry out their missions, underscoring that through their actions they contribute to the defence of the national territory and the safety of Romanian citizens.
